VESTOSINT^® Protect guards against bacteria and fungi

The solution obviously lies in attacking the root of the problem by infection prophylaxis, for example, by antimicrobially active surfaces. This protects even particularly susceptible risk groups, such as children and the elderly, more effectively against possible infection.

Antimicrobially active surfaces with VESTOSINT^® Protect

VESTOSINT^® Protect is a thermoplastic polyamide 12 (PA 12) coating powder that can be used to produce highly resistant antimicrobially active surfaces. The coating possesses a very broad spectrum of action against a large variety of microorganisms (such as bacteria and fungi). VESTOSINT® Protect inhibits or deactivates the growth of these microorganisms and kills them off. It is effective even against the particularly feared multi-resistant microorganisms such as the multi-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Surfaces featuring VESTOSINT^® Protect also comply with food law requirements and are easy to clean. These properties are retained even at temperatures well below zero. 

Almost complete elimination of microorganisms

VESTOSINT^® Protect produces antimicrobial surfaces on which microbial reduction of 99.99 percent can be achieved.

Antimicrobial activity is measured using the method described by the Japanese standard JIS Z 2801: A culture medium containing 1 million bacteria is applied to the sample. After 24 hours at 35°C the number of bacteria killed, and therefore the reduction relative to the blank sample, is determined. For strong bactericidal action, 99.9 percent of all bacteria should have been killed.
